Nella Estelle Education: Middle School Proper

BUSINESS OVERVIEW- Built July 2026 | Master's Thesis · Brand Story · Business Model

1. THE RESEARCH FOUNDATION — MASTERS THESIS

THESIS TITLE
How Educator-Provided Organizational Tools Affect Executive Functioning in Middle School Students with ADHD

RESEARCH QUESTION
What tools and systems can educators provide to middle school students with ADHD to support executive functioning and sustained attention in a technology-driven learning environment?

METHOD — ACTION RESEARCH (three rounds)
Round 1 — Literature synthesis: ~15 peer-reviewed articles across neuropsychology, educational research, intervention science, and qualitative student narrative. Synthesized and cross-referenced into common themes — a literature review, not primary data collection.

Round 2 — Classroom implementation: The systems built from the literature review were practiced directly with her own 7th grade students, in her own Title I classroom.

Round 3 — Independent pilot (current): Running the program independently, outside the classroom. Currently 3 clients, scaling toward 8. Framed explicitly as data-gathering before full formalization.

THREE EMERGENT THEMES (theoretical backbone)
1. ADHD is neurological. Middle school is the window. — EF (inhibitory control, working memory, cognitive flexibility) is more predictive of long-term outcomes than IQ or socioeconomic status (Diamond & Ling, 2016). EF trajectories from 8th–10th grade show that students who enter middle school with high deficits largely stay there without intervention (Shroff et al., 2023).
2. Tools only work when conditions are right. — Four conditions determine whether any tool works: student buy-in (Sadeghi et al., 2020), physiological readiness/sleep (Nelson et al., 2022), consistency of materials management (Langberg et al., 2016 — the strongest longitudinal predictor of GPA), and parent partnership (Sibley et al., 2016; Ellis et al., 2022).
3. The system is failing students. — General education teachers largely do not adapt practice for ADHD students, not from indifference but because class sizes are too large and training is insufficient (Gaastra et al., 2020). Nearly half of parents of adolescents with ADHD are uninvolved in organizational support at home (Sibley et al., 2016).

THE TWO RESEARCH ARTIFACTS (now business assets)
- Artifact 1 — EF Student Success System: student onboarding profile (self-maps cognitive profile across 8 EF domains) + daily organizational system built from that baseline.
- Artifact 2 — Educator and Family Implementation Guide: the "why" (ADHD neuroscience in plain language), the "how" (classroom implementation framework), and the "bridge" (parent partnership module).

Every current business tool traces back to this research. This traceability — literature to classroom to independent practice — is the core credibility asset of the brand and the answer to "why should I trust this." This research is my North star and what gives the brand the urgency and energy

2. BRAND STORY

THE FOUNDATION
14 years in education. 9 years in K-12 public education in California. 5 years in the classroom, 4 of those specifically with 7th graders, at a Title I school in Bakersfield, CA.

THE NOTICING
While teaching, she noticed genuine attention struggles in students — not discipline, attention. She tried everything to reach them (engaging lesson design, TikTok dances, 12-minute planning chunks). Some students still couldn't be reached, and she didn't yet have language for what she was watching.

THE RESEARCH PATH
Pursued a Masters Thesis starting with attention, which led into ADHD, which led specifically into executive functioning as the mechanism underneath.

THE PIVOT
Leaving the classroom was a values decision, not burnout. Her research and experience showed her that public/American school isn't structured to set 12-14 year olds up for success — especially with accelerating technology and device use intensifying attention issues.

THE CONVICTION
12-14 is a critical window. Almost no one is giving students in this exact window what they actually need: explicit executive-function skill-building, not more test-prep. The problem isn't intelligence — EF and digital self-management are trainable skills, not fixed traits.

THE MOVE
Taking what was built and validated in the classroom, now piloting independently — in-person in Westside LA plus virtual — directly with clients.

THE FORWARD VISION
Wants to be known as "the research method." Next goal: get the method formally recognized as research-backed, to become credible to charter schools, private schools, and private education — an institutional/B2B pathway behind the current family-facing offer.

Core motivation, in her own words: "I created something from what I experienced with my favorite young people, and I want to give it to the world because I think it's good. 12-14 is quite literally the most important years yet I haven’t found anything geared specifically for toughest years in life."

3. BUSINESS MODEL

BRAND ARCHITECTURE (three layers)
- Nella Estelle Education — the company and research platform. Publishes ideas, earns trust, builds authority through written and visual content supporting families of 12-14 year olds. Thought leader not a person but the brand NellaEstelle Education which came from the founders experience and understanding of current research on attention.
- Middle School Proper — the flagship coaching offer. Converts interest into enrolled families. The 6-Week 3-Maps Cohort and education on Executive functions.
- Digital product — Google Drive system set up with EF education-

GO-TO-MARKET SEQUENCE (confirmed priority order — this is new and important)
Step 1 — Lead with the digital product. The first public-facing, market-facing offer is a self-paced digital product: "How to Get Organized with Google Drive" — teaching the Digital Map component of the methodology (a three-folder ADHD-friendly filing system + digital workspace habits). This is what she already uses inside her own coaching system, so it's a natural, low-friction first product to sell publicly. Content and marketing efforts lead with this, not the coaching program.

Step 2 — Coaching is promoted, but secondary in current content focus. The 6-Week 3-Maps Cohort (the full 1:1 + group coaching program) remains the higher-value, higher-touch offer and is still actively promoted — but it is not the centerpiece of current public content. The digital product is the entry point; coaching is the upsell path for families who want more.

Step 3 — Website build. A website matching the brand story is the next infrastructure piece needed — it needs to house both the digital product (as the primary storefront item) and the coaching program (as the secondary, deeper offer), all under one consistent brand voice and visual identity.

THE FLAGSHIP COACHING OFFER — 6-Week 3-Maps Cohort
- 8 private 1:1 coaching sessions, 50 minutes each, over 6 weeks
- Plus a weekly Monday group coaching session (separate from the 8 — teaches the skill of the week, aligns the cohort)
- Virtual and In-person, Westside Los Angeles. Weekdays only.
- $1,500 per cycle. No long-term commitment — families can re-enroll for another round.
- Limited seats (framed as protecting individualized coaching depth, not as artificial scarcity)
- Method taught (This is in Beta ): the 3-Maps System — Culture Map(understanding self in society), Daily Map(scheduling and tracking), Digital Map (organizing everything digitally →

THE DIGITAL PRODUCT — "How to Get Organized with Google Drive" (first to launch)
- Teaches the Digital Map component standalone: Google Drive logistics, a three-folder ADHD-friendly filing system (the "inbox model"), and building a digital workspace that carries into high school, college, and professional life. Teaches EF skills vaguely.
- Self-paced, lower price point, lower friction than coaching
- Serves as proof-of-method and lead generator for the coaching program

REVENUE STREAMS
- Digital product sales (near-term primary content focus)
- 6-Week 3-Maps Cohort coaching (higher-value, still promoted)
- Future: institutional/B2B pathway — contracted EF coaching for charter and private schools, once the method has formal research recognition

NEAR-TERM PRIORITIES
1. Finalize and launch the Google Drive digital product
2. Build the website — must house both offers, match brand voice/visual identity
3. Continue the pilot cohort (3 clients, scaling to 8) to gather outcome data before full-price public launch of coaching
